In December of last year, the USS Nimitz, the oldest of the American aircraft carriers, completed its final deployment by docking at the Naval Base Kitsap in Washington State. It was scheduled to then proceed to the Newport News Shipbuilding facility in Virginia for decommissioning. However, until it reaches the East Coast of the United States, the USS Nimitz remains operational.
Set to be decommissioned in 2026, the USS Nimitz will continue its service, extending its operational timeline beyond initial expectations.
