The cost of the eight nuclear attack submarines (SNA) that Australia aims to acquire under the AUKUS pact with the United Kingdom and the United States, established in 2021, continues to escalate. This is particularly evident as Australia plans to invest up to €6.7 billion to extend the operational lifespan of its six existing submarines.

Australia is now committing an additional €3 billion to the shipyard responsible for constructing its future nuclear submarines.
