The Royal Navy is tasked with maintaining a fleet of seven Attack Submarines (SSNs) according to its operational contract. Currently, it has only six operational submarines, as the most recent addition, HMS Agamemnon (Astute class), has not yet completed its sea trials and has only recently conducted its first static dive. Consequently, the availability of British SSNs is a pressing concern.
