Since August, the United States has intensified its military pressure on Venezuela as part of its fight against narcoterrorism. This includes a $50 million reward for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, due to his alleged connections with the Cartel de los Soles and the Tren de Aragua organization.
